Les arpenteurs de rêves, dessins du musée d’Orsay

DREAM WALKERS,
drawings from the musée d’Orsay

Scenography of the exhibition presented at Palais Lumière d’Evian.

Exhibition revealing a selection of drawings from the reserves of the Musée d'Orsay, very rarely shown to the public, because of their fragility. The exhibition offers a rich overview of the practice of drawing during the second half of the 19th century, through the various aspects of this medium.

The thread that connects the selected artpieces of the exhibition is dreaming, not in the limited sense of nocturnal activity during sleep, but in the broad sense of inner life, reverie and creative imagination. The exhibition is an invitation to a journey into the poetic imagination of artists who penetrate the "second life" of dreams and break through "those ivory or horn doors that separate us from the invisible world" (Gérard de Nerval, "The Dreams"). (Gérard de Nerval, Aurélia).

The tour is structured around five themes: Behind the eyelids; Dream experiences of the landscape; Monsters and wonders; Through the pages; and Music above all things.
